Renovations, Day...who cares?

Really, I've lost count of how many days we've been working on the house...it's somewhere around 13, I think. Ever since we came a few weeks ago to sign the papers, it has been a complete blur of dust, paint, wood, carpet, trim, doors, floors, windows, and trips to Home Depot and Lowes.

Yesterday the carpet for the upstairs was finished. We chose a neutral-toned Berber carpet that I think went really well with the paint colors we chose. We've almost finished the painting, except for the base boards (yet to be purchased) and a few windows that are missing trim. I ordered our cabinets from IKEA yesterday and they should be in by the end of next week. Tomorrow we (well, Scott & Dad) will begin laying the hardwood floors downstairs.

Here's Abby scraping off the nasty popcorn texture on our ceiling in the dining room. Doesn't she look so happy to be working with us?

The bonus of having a husband who used to work for a remodeling/painting company: he's got painting skillz! No taping needed here.

Trying out the new carpet...

At the end of the day all I'm good for is putting light switch covers back on

The people who owned the house before us loved these photo stickers...they were on everything: mirrors, doors, light switch plates, baseboards, etc.

Good detail shot of the carpet. Can you tell who took this pic? Hint: the screws are in the shape of her initials.

It looks like he's scolding me for something...Abby, you're not supposed to get these moments on camera!

And last but not least, Justin leveling the floor while Scott paints the ceiling.
