Deck Cleaning How-To

A few people asked how we got our deck to look so good, so I thought I'd write a simple post on what we did...

We did a bit of research online and the most user-friendly information I found was from Lowe's. They have a "How-To Clean and Seal Your Deck" article, as well as this how-to video on YouTube (very helpful for me because I am a visual person).

First we applied Behr Premium Mildew & Stain Remover with a brush, then washed it off with a power washer. The key to getting all the mildew off is using a power washer!! If you don't use a power washer, plan to spend several days scrubbing. After the mildew remover we applied Behr Premium Deck, Fence and Siding Wood Prep with a brush. That's all, folks.

The next step is to apply the stain...we'll let you know how that goes, hopefully next week.
