Home Renovations: the Deck

I know I've been a horrible blogger lately. Sorry! Things have gotten a little busy (ok, a lot busy) since the semester started, and I just haven't taken the time to sit down and type out a post. I've barely even had time to take pictures of the house. But here's a quick little update for those of you who are interested in how the house renovations are coming along...

We decided to go ahead and move our focus outside before the weather gets too cold to do anything. We would like to get the deck refinished, do a bit of landscaping, and paint the trim on the house before winter gets here. Since the weather has been so nice for the last few weeks, I decided to get started on the deck.

It's not finished yet, but we've finally gotten all of the mold and mildew off. The pictures you see below are half and half - the dark wood is the deck with all the mold & mildew and the light wood is what it looks like after it has been cleaned. Wow! I had no idea that beautiful wood was hiding under that nasty gray stuff.
